What You Can Do

The RCPG is tasked with representing Ramona Community interests in Planning and Land Use matters for the area. RCPG input is “advisory” - in legal terms, it is not binding upon County officials.

Planning and land use impacts the citizens of Ramona directly but the words/ terminology are largely unknown to most citizens (please link to Planning and Land Use Definitions on this site)

Nevertheless, it is important that you voice your concerns in calls, e-mails, and letters to to each and every member of this group and provide “Trust but verify” oversight that they represent your interests before the County planners and leaders.

Note: Elected RCPG members and appointed volunteer subcommittee members are unpaid representatives – the time they spend attempting to represent your community interests is time taken directly from their personal and family lives, and at times - their daily jobs.

These unpaid representatives work with paid County staffers and paid elected politicians.

The RCPG job is difficult and discouraging at times as they try to prevail against well funded special interests and often non-responsive government bureaucracies - often with hidden agendas. Additionally politics pervades the entire process further adding to complexity, difficulty, and intrigue - and we know:

"If it doesn't make sense, Politics will explain it."

Participating in the RCPG process and voicing your position on issues of concern and protecting Ramona's rural character is critical to efforts to "Save Ramona."

You are a key part of this process and the RCPG needs your personal support and participation to succeed. Please attend the monthly RCPG meetings at the Senior Center on Aqua Lane as often as your interest and personal schedule allows.

Your Supervisor is Dianne Jacob. She and her staff work for your interests and welcome your input. Please view Supervisor Jacob's contact infornation at: http://www.sdcounty.ca.gov/cnty/bos/sup2/
