Offering a Vision

Offering a Vision: Recent articles By Karen Brainard n the Ramona Sentinel have highlighted the chilling impact of taxes and fees on new businesses and those businesses seeking to expand. The Transportation Impact Fee (TIF) which I opposed in the media prior to running for the RCPG, has proven to be a significant obstical to area businesses including the constuction industry.

Prior to running for the RCPG in 2005, I drafted the below vision statement based upon discussions and ideas shared with many Ramona residents, this Vision Statement articulated as best I could, land use issues important to our community.

“What Ramona’s About” was published as “What Is Ramona About?” in a Guest Commentary in the March 10th 2005 Ramona Sentinel newspaper.

Several folks who didn’t know me at the time clipped and posted this vision on their refrigerator doors. Certainly not the most glamorous display venue but an honorable and respectful place probably alongside crayon drawings by their children.

This posting was indicative of how this community vision strongly resonated some residents. The vision statement was also used as an agree (or not) thought stimulating lead-in for the recent Ramona Community Survey that many of you participated in.
