Closing Thoughts
Many years ago on Jan. 11, 1989, when President Ronald Reagan bade the nation farewell from the Oval Office, he closed with the following words:
"As I walk off into the city streets, a final word to the men and women across America, who for eight years did the work that brought America back: My friends, we did it. We weren't just marking time, we made a difference. We made the city stronger, we made the city freer, and we left her in good hands.
"All in all, not bad. Not bad at all. And so, good-bye. God bless you. And God bless the United States of America."
As a closing thought, and in a similar light, with your votes and the sustained support of concerned Ramona citizens, and like minded elected officials, I hope one day we can say “We made Ramona a better place and left her in good hands.”
It is a good fight and worthy of both pursuit and attainment, but is only possible with your support and your sustained personal commitment to this community.
After four years on the RCPG, I have a greater appreciation of the negative pressure Ramona faces from external forces at both the State and County levels.
The RCPG is but one of many venues for you to voice your concerns about Ramona's future. If we are to reverse legislation impacting farmers, ranchers, and our rural lifestyle, we must elect representatine not only at the local level but also at the state level. Many development and environmental mandates levied on our County, and subesquently upon us originate in Sacramento.
In the future, as in the past, I promise you my honest and dedicated efforts to guide and protect Ramona’s rural character and quality of life. Please check my past voting record and statements in the local media.
